The municipality of Santa Fe de Antioquia is located an hour and a half from Medellin, and is considered by many historians as the birthplace of paisa culture and the mother city of the Antioquia department, as it was the first settlement founded and became the capital of the department until 1826 when the government moved to Medellin.

Since then, its historic center has remained virtually intact and today one can see in it and its cobbled streets how the city used to be and even go back in time while walking through its streets.

Just 10 minutes from the town of Santa Fe de Antioquia, you will visit the famous Bridge of the West, a suspension bridge of almost 300 meters long that crosses the Cauca River.

It is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. Although there are now longer suspension bridges in South America, originally the Bridge of the West was the longest of its kind in all of South America, and that is where its historical and cultural importance lies, being a key piece in the development of the region and the country at the time.

The Western Bridge was built in the late 19th century and is made of wood.
